Screening Process

Ensuring safety is our top priority. Every prospective volunteer and staff member undergoes a thorough screening before joining us.

Alignment with Values

Creating a nurturing environment where our BRIDGE students can flourish is fundamental to us. Thus, demonstrating respect for one another is essential in all interactions within our community.

Age Requirement

Volunteers must be 17 or older and have a heart for supporting the children, families, and communities connected with ourBRIDGE.

Time Commitment

Programmatic volunteers are expected to commit to at least 10 weeks during our school-year program and four weeks during our summer programming.

Frequently Asked Questions about Volunteering with ourBRIDGE

Our volunteers represent diverse backgrounds, including college students, full-time professionals, retirees, and even former BRIDGE students. You must be 17 years or older to volunteer. Individuals aged 14-16 can volunteer with a parent or guardian present.

No prior experience is necessary.

All volunteers must attend a two-hour orientation and contribute $25 to cover the cost of the background check and a T-shirt (exceptions may be available).

Volunteers must be willing to utilize our online volunteer management system (free of cost).

Volunteers intending to work directly with students must complete a 1.5-hour online training on Sexual Abuse Awareness and Prevention Training.

Yes, we accept volunteer sign ups year-round. Our programmatic volunteer opportunities are available from October through July, while other volunteer opportunities are available all year.

We offer plenty of weekend events, special projects, and collection drives throughout the year, typically taking place on weekends.
